Chelsea have signed a £12.6m deal with Inter Milan for midfielder Cesare Casadei.
The Blues are paying a further £4million in extras for the 19-year-old and have been offered a six-year contract this week with his medical check-up.
Casadei, 19, has yet to make his senior professional debut for Inter but is seen as one of the best prospects in Italian football and Chelsea had rejected a £6million offer for the youngster earlier this summer.

New Chelsea owner and interim sporting director Todd Boehly continues to support Tuchel in the market
Thomas Tuchel’s team has extensively scouted the midfielder.
It is believed that Casadei would initially be brought in as an asset to the academy, with the aim of eventually placing the Italian youth international in the first team.
It has also been reported that if he moves to Chelsea, Casadei could be loaned back to Serie A to continue his development.
The move for Casadei comes as part of the ‘Vision 2030’ strategy adopted by the new owners, led by Todd Boehly.
With the Blues’ midfield in a 2-2 draw, with Spurs Jorginho and N’Golo Kante who are 30 and 31 respectively, the club is aware that the squad needs to be refreshed with more youthful talent.
This has already been seen with the signing of Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa for £20million after the midfielder excelled for England at the Under-19 European Championship.

Casadei is highly regarded at Inter and spoke about their young midfielder earlier this summer. Inter’s CEO Beppe Marotta said: “Today he is a young talent. He still has a long way to go before he can become a top player, but we are very proud to have him with us.
‘He is training with the first team, he appears to be at a very good level.
“At the moment I can only speak positively about him, as he is above average for his age, and after that a lot will depend on him.
“It will depend on how he can map his future, because in addition to the technical qualities you also have to have the personal ones, which are often more important in football.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea will continue to look for first-team reinforcements for Tuchel before the window slams shut at the end of this month.
Following the departures of Timo Werner and Romelu Lukaku, a striker is a priority with Barcelona striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who is closely linked to the club, while they are also reportedly close to a deal for Catalan midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
