Star Trek: Discovery has given fans a first look at Season 5, as well as some exciting plot details.
While we don’t have a release date for the new episodes yet, a first image was revealed yesterday (September 8) as part of Star Trek Day showing Sonequa Martin-Green back in action driving a vehicle through a sandstorm.
A recap for the fifth season has also been revealed, teasing a major quest across the galaxy to find an ancient hidden power.

“Captain Burnham and the crew of the USS Discovery uncover a mystery that sends them on an epic adventure across the galaxy to find an ancient power whose existence has been deliberately hidden for centuries,” it reads (via Weekly entertainment).
“But there are others on the prowl as well…dangerous enemies desperate for the prize for themselves and will do anything to get it.”
Fans also got a special behind-the-scenes tour thanks to star Wilson Cruz – who plays Dr Hugh Culber – which you can watch above.

Cruz recently spoke of the series’ “infinite diversity” and praised the Star Trek the franchise’s forward-thinking character during an appearance at Dragon Con.
“Star Trek is defined as infinite diversity in infinite combinations,” he said (via Variety). “If that’s true, and if that’s our goal, then progress needs to be modeled in that direction. That’s what science fiction does for us, it helps us envision what that’s going to look like… and that’s inherently political. “
Martin-Green himself has also criticized Discovery who have suggested it has strayed too far from the original? Star Trek.
