Kylian Mbappe and Neymar’s relationship is ‘good’, PSG boss Christophe Galtier claims – as he dismisses talk of a feud between the star duo over last month’s criminal dispute
- PSG manager Christophe Galtier has dismissed rumors of a split in his squad
- Kylian Mbappe and Neymar have reportedly been arguing for several months
- The problems first became apparent when PSG were awarded a penalty against Montpellier
- Both players wanted to take it before Neymar got into trouble with Mbappe online
- During the club’s victory over Juventus, problems seemed to resurface during the week
PSG manager Christophe Galtier has downplayed the tension between Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.
The attackers clashed over a penalty a month ago in the French side’s 5-2 win over Montpellier, which Neymar took and scored after Mbappe missed earlier in the game.
The Brazilian then liked a series of tweets criticizing his teammate, but the split was reportedly squashed the same week after talks with sporting director Luis Campos.
However, it appeared that the two were not on the same page again in PSG’s win over Juventus in the middle of the week, when Mbappe refused to drag a ball to Neymar, who was in a prime position to score, but Galtier , via Goal and The Mirror , has denied that there is any sort of feud going on.

“The relationship between Kylian and Ney is good and I have no doubts here,” he said. “After talking to Kylian, who I think talked to Neymar about it…they are together in training exercises, they are often together in the warm-ups.”
The 56-year-old defended the French attacker for not going through to his teammate, claiming he hadn’t seen Neymar in space.
“Yes, there was the match situation,” he added. “That move has two moments. The first gear where he might be able to pass the ball but it’s a bit difficult, and the second where Kylian makes the difference, stepping into the penalty area and not seeing Ney.
Several problems have reportedly been caused by Mbappe’s new mega contract with PSG
“When you watch the video, it all seems simple. But you have two seconds to make up your mind and Kylian is focused on the ball.
“I am confident that he will assist Neymar in the future and vice versa. I haven’t felt anything negative about that game since the game.’
Neymar assisted Mbappe in the match and passed a neat chip for the 23-year-old to volley home to put PSG at 1-0.
There have reportedly been tensions at the French club since Mbappe signed a new mega-contract, allegedly giving him more control over football affairs at the club.

However, the player himself also rejected the idea of a feud for the Champions League match of the week.
He said: ‘This is Neymar’s sixth year. We’ve always had that kind of relationship, based on respect, but sometimes with warmer and colder moments. It’s the nature of our relationship
“I have a lot of respect for the player he is. When you have two players with such a strong character, you have those moments, but always with respect and in the interest of PSG.’
