It’s finally here, folks. After what feels like an era of trailers and directs galore, this week finally saw the release of Splatoon 3! Here at Nintendo Life, we’ve got you covered for all things squid, squid and merchandise (or should we say Murch-andice?) We’ve put together a comprehensive guide of tips, tricks, and hints to get you started in the game , as well as information about the latest My Nintendo Store Splatoon themed rewards.
Normally, one major Nintendo franchise would be enough to fill us up for a week, but over the past seven days, we’ve gotten even more. We got excited again about the rumblings in the Zelda rumor mill as the words of an upcoming Nintendo Direct intensified, and we’ve got all the incoming news from the latest Pokémon Scarlet and Violet trailer, including the latest Pokémon, three different storylines, and the all-new OLED system.
With our review of Disney Dreamlight Valley and words on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R hitting the site this week, we’re ready for a weekend of gaming to really sink our teeth into some of the September titles that have has already reached us.
Now some of our great writers have shared their plans for the weekend below, and we’d love to hear what you guys are up to in the comments below! Will it be an outburst of Splatoon 3? Enjoy reading!

I’ll kick off this week with the obvious option. I hope to spend most of my time diving into the world of Splatoon 3. I’ve been working hard on our guides to the game over the past few days, so it’ll be nice to take a few hours to check out the game for yourself. my own pleasure – it’s really something!
Aside from that, I really persist in trying out the much smaller Haiku the Robot. The release date was slightly overshadowed by the splashy drop on the same day, but this dystopian robot roguelike is beautiful to watch and promises some really fun times.
We are in for quite the game weekend!

For some reason I play Loop Hero on and off. It’s a brilliant roguelike, auto battle, deckbuilder hybrid and some nights it was everything I wanted to sink my teeth into. There’s something very fascinating about watching my little Rogue hero walk around and around these randomized dystopian loops!
Otherwise, this weekend I wish I could go back and tell my kid myself that Disney and… Animal Crossing would ever combine to create Disney Dreamlight Valley. I want to try this one on Game Pass while I can, and while I’m not sure if it will suck me in as much as New Horizons did a few years ago, I can’t deny that I just want to see Choco Crocodile in the flesh.

No Splatoon 3 for me I’m afraid folks! Not yet anyway. This weekend I’m diving back into the extraordinary world of Disco Elysium: The Final Cut. The more I play this game, the more convinced I am that it is one of my all-time favorites; the writing and sense of place is just second to none! So yes, that will no doubt take up a lot of my time.
Elsewhere, I’m eager to play the entirety of Telltale’s The Walking Dead. I’ve only played the first two seasons, and while I generally understand that the quality seems to diminish as you progress, I recently bought the ‘Definitive Series’ on PS5 so I can play it from start to finish.
As always, thanks for reading! Make sure to leave a comment below with your weekend gaming plans!
